You are invited to register for four individual trainings offered this fall.


October 5: Level 1 / Day 1: Intro to Problem Gambling (SOLD OUT)

Trainer: Josh Ercole

On Day 1 of the 30 hour clinical training required to pursue National certification, we will cover the history and scope of gambling and take an in-depth look at what problem gambling is and how it affects individuals of all backgrounds. We will discuss problem gambling and the family, affected populations, how problem gambling is diagnosed and what treatment resources are available. For those interested in learning more about working with problem gamblers and becoming nationally certified, this workshop will provide an excellent overview of the disorder and certification process. (Please note: Days 2-4 will not be held at this time)


October 6: Co-Occurring Disorders and Gambling (SOLD OUT)

Trainer: Paula Sanchez

This training will provide an overview of issues related to problem gambling, and focus on co-occurring disorders that are frequently present among problem gamblers. The focus of the training will be looking at both addiction disorders and behavior disorders and how they relate to, and often occur along with, gambling disorders. Additionally, a number of treatment methods and resources will be discussed.

November 4: Problem Gambling & Ethics

Trainer: Nancy Milliron

This training will address ethical considerations in addiction treatment, specifically gambling addiction. The presentation will include the functions of ethical codes, values/morals and laws impacting the gambling addiction professional, the agency and the client. Case studies will be discussed throughout the course to promote greater understanding of ethical challenges that those working in the field of gambling treatment may encounter. Ethical decision making models will be presented to help guide the practitioner.

November 5: Gambling Disorders: Online Gambling

Trainer: Nancy Milliron

This training is designed to provide participants with an understanding of process addictions, particularly online gambling. Topics include the scope of and access to online gambling, its historical development in the US, the vulnerability of special groups to online gambling addiction, as well as key elements of various treatment theoretical approaches and interventions for the gambler in treatment.

Check-in/Registration: 8 a.m. each day. Trainings will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. each day.

Fee: None, and lunch will be provided.

Credits (7.5 per day) offered: CAC, APA, and NCGC from IGCCB, NASW-PA and LVPCA. Payment for credits will be collected the day of the workshop; cash or check will be accepted. (Cost of 7.5 credits: LVPCA members, $30; LVCPA non-members $35; NASW members $15, non-members, $25). Lehigh Valley Psychological and Counseling Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. LVPCA maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
